Biography

A short biography about me (K. A. T. ) and some of the history related activities, classes and experience
that I have been involved with in the past years. My name is Kathleen A. T.
Newman! I am an American living abroad in Stockholm, Sweden. I am also an
18th century re-enactor with the group
Gustafs Skäl.
About Kat
I first became interested in history at a young age while investigating my
Grandmother's basement. She had all of these old clothes from the 1920's.
Flapper dresses and furs, old furniture, shoes and pictures. It was like
another world! My grandmother was an excellent seamstress and could just
glance at someone and know their size and sew something. I started sewing at
a young age. I first started with making extra clothes for my dolls and then
in high school I sewed my own prom dress. After this period I started to
work a lot on sewing quilts. After moving to Sweden from the U.S.A. my
interest in the 18th century grew and I started to sew 18th century
costumes.
When I first joined the reenactment society I am in I purchased clothing
from other members but now I sew a lot of my own clothing.
